Closing and awards ceremony will be on Sunday, November 22, promptly at 1 p.m., in the Leonia HS gymnasium (same venue as opening ceremony). Players should wear their uniforms (no cleats!). Please leave your banner on Saturday, November 21 after your game concludes, or bring the banner by 12:30 Sunday for the team banner display. Slide show will begin at about 12:45 p.m. If anyone has pictures for the slide show, please e-mail Christine, christine @ everydaydisasters.com for instructions. Please contact her no later than Tuesday, November 17 so she has time to put the slide show together.
Congratulations to us! At the 2009 AYSO National Annual General Meeting (NAGM) in Dallas, Region 1089 received a "Green Thumb" Award, given to regions, areas, and sections that actively support growth through the use of AYSO Programs. You can read the letter, and see our certificate.

Don't Forget: CLOSING CEREMONY IS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22. Please look at the "Announcements" column for important information about the closing ceremony. Please bring your Thanksgiving food donations and old soccer equipment (see below for details), we will have boxes in which to place the donations.

PARENTS: Please fill out a coach evaluation form. You may upload a copy here. Your feedback is always welcome and will help us as we plan for next season. Return the questionnaire to your team parent, or we will be collecting them at the snack bar or at the closing ceremony.
EVERYONE: Posted times are ARRIVAL times, not KICKOFF times; arrive at the time posted for set up and/or warmup. All remaining matchesare posted.
COACHES: Turn in your equipment bag. You can leave your bag after your last game, or bring it to Sylvan after the closing ceremony. Leave the bag in the storage room at the field house or if it is locked, on the north side of the building in front of the sliding doors. We cannot accept bags at the closing ceremony. Don't forget to turn in your player evaluations to the RCA.
TWO IMPORTANT CAUSES FOR WHICH WE ARE ACCEPTING DONATIONS:
1. SOCCER EQUIPMENT -- old soccer uniforms (jersey, socks, shorts), cleats, shin guards, etc., to be sent via a UN program to children in Africa. You can bring the items to Sylvan -- there is a collection box there, or bring them to the closing ceremony.
2. Donations of the following items for the Center for Food Action Thanksgiving food drive:
- $20 Gift Cards/Certificates to purchase turkeys
- frozen turkeys
- canned vegetables
- canned yams
- gravy
- instant potatoes
- cranberry sauce
- stuffing
- pasta sauce and spaghetti
Please, no glass containers. Help us make a difference by helping others to have a good holiday! If anyone would be willing to help transport the items after the ceremony please contact Masako Shiono. If you are a coach or team parent reading this please spread the word to your team members!
On game day, cancellations and/or game status will be posted on this website by 8 a.m. Saturday or 10 am on Sunday. Call the Leonia Recreation Center phone line, 201-592-5783, after 8 a.m. Sat. or 10 a.m. Sunday and listen to the recorded message for any announcement of cancellation. Any change after those times may not be reflected here -- the Rec Center line will have the most up-to-date information.

To our young players: If you are at least 10 years old, come and check out what it takes to be an AYSO Youth coach and help assist at the U8, U10 or U12 level. Or become a Youth Referee! Volunteering is a resume builder. Being an AYSO volunteer can be a form of community service (check with your service group or advisor).
